Sergeant and family, c. 1905.



The only part of this sergeant’s insignia that I can be sure of is the crossed rifles for infantry. He wears the five-button campaign coat dating from the 1880s (note the three small buttons on the cuff, dating from 1884), with a 1902-pattern cap. The back seems to identify him as “Uncle Erette.”
