National Guard on Parade, c. 1905

This photo shows an unidentified unit marching in a main-street parade. The picture was obtained from Richmond, so this may show the Virginia Volunteers (i.e. National Guard). The men wear the M1902 cap, but instead of dress coats with buttons they have the old fly-front jackets. It is possible that the unit is from a military academy, but to me the men's faces do not appear particularly young enough. In the enlargement, one can see captain's bars on the collar of the officer in front, and a corporal behind him.
