Bavarian Chevauleger, c. 1890.

A poor quality picture of what I believe is a trooper of one of the eight Bavarian Chevauleger regiments. The combination of lancer tunic with spiked helmet is unique to these units. The uniform was a special dark green called stahlgrün. I acquired this photo in Augsburg. Click here for a closer view of the helmet and its white horsehair plume.
