Vagrants Sentenced to Labor on the Sevastopol Fortifications, 1839.

4.  On Vagrants. 

The Vilna Provincial Administration announces that: 

Ivan Yevdokimov, not knowing his place of residence nor the social class and status to which he belongs, has been judged by the Vilna District Court for vagrancy, and subsequent to the Provincial Governor’s confirmation of this verdict—has been punished by six blows with the lash and sent to work on the Sevastopol fortifications. This Yevdokimov is 5 feet 3-1/2 inches tall, has a round face, long nose, light-brown eyes, dark hair, and is 25 years old. 

Anton Semenov, having falsely indicated his residence as Moscow Province, Moscow District, Kaskevich’s estate, and as belonging to the landowner Yankevich, has been judged by the Oshmany District Court, and subsequent to the Provincial Governor’s confirmation of this verdict—has been punished by ten blows and sent to work on the Sevastopol fortifications. This Semenov is 5 feet 3-3/4 inches tall, has a round face, gray eyes, regular nose, dark-brown hair, and is 38 years old. 

       The Vilna Provincial Administration makes these announcements for the information of owners or communities to which these vagrants may belong.
