53rd Company, Coast Artillery Corps, c. 1910.

This is a hand tinted portrait of a young enlisted man of the 53rd Company, Coast Artillery Corps. Rust spots have appeared over time under the protective coating of the frame and photo, which I have digitally removed on the closeups. In 1914 the 53rd Company was stationed at Fort Wadsworth, part of the Coast Defenses of Southern New York.
