Thai Officers in Japan, c. 1940.

I believe this group of photographs is from two Thai officera on some sort of military exchange program in Japan, probably around 1940. During World War Two, Thailand (recently renamed from Siam) was an ally of Japan. The landscape in the photos is obviously Japan rather than Thailand (snow!), and Japanese officers and soldiers are present. The Thai officers' service dress is green with open collars while the Japanese wear khaki with closed collars. There may be two versions of the Thai service dress—one of a winter weight and in a darker shade, the other lighter. One of the photos is presumably of the Thai visitors with a Japanese host, and here the Thais wear formal full dress tunics.
